Meet Dr. George
My Approach
In my practice, I believe that who I am as a person deeply informs my work as a therapist. I am Jewish, identify as queer, and am a proud breast cancer survivor. These aspects of my identity shape my perspective, foster empathy, and contribute to the authenticity I bring to my therapeutic relationships. I approach each client as a whole person, and I understand that our life experiences—both joyful and challenging—are integral to how we navigate the world. By drawing on my own journey, I strive to create a compassionate, open, and nonjudgmental space where we can explore your unique experiences together.
While my primary approach is based in humanistic psychotherapy, I utilize many evidence-based approaches to therapy. Because most of my clients have experienced a history of trauma (or are currently being impacted by traumatic events), I have extensive experience with trauma-focused interventions. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a powerful tool for processing difficult past experiences and preparing for future challenges.
Education & Past Experience
With over 15 years of experience as a therapist and licensure since 2009, I’ve had the privilege of working in diverse settings. In addition to my private practice, I have provided care within a fast-paced public hospital system, serving underserved communities and individuals facing significant stressors or crises. My clinical work has included supporting those impacted by incarceration, severe injuries, health-related stress, as well as first responders, medical staff, and remote workers. During my training, I conducted assessment and therapy for veterans, older adults, and trauma survivors.
In addition to my clinical work, I have been involved in research, training, and education throughout my career. I developed and implemented multiple trainings on trauma-informed care, stress management, crisis intervention, and PTSD. My work has been presented and published at local, state, and national levels, and I was recently honored to deliver the keynote speech at a state conference.
